Motion X Dance Company is a contemporary dance company based in Northern Virginia, founded in 2013 by Artistic Director Stephanie Dorrycott. The company creates original contemporary works that explore the complexities of the human experience through a movement language rooted in dynamic release and interdisciplinary collaboration. Motion X has become recognized for its use of dance with digital art, producing original multimedia works including Altered Archives (2015, Capital Fringe), The Fate of Choice (2020, Atlas Intersections Festival), and Polyscope (2025, Atlas Intersections Festival).
Professional Opportunities for our Pro Division Dancers:
Motion X offers apprenticeship opportunities to dancers in the GWDC Pro Division by invitation only. Those invited to be a part of the company have demonstrated a maturity in their dancing and professional level artistry in their performance. The opportunity to work with Motion X provides professional experience that can be used on a resume or college application.
