About the Company
Festival Ballet Virginia is dedicated to inspiring, enriching, uniting and educating our community. We strive to foster an appreciation and love for the art of ballet by honoring it’s history while also pursuing artistic innovation.
Festival Ballet Virginia (FBV) was founded in 2018 as a dance company in residence at the Greater Washington Dance Center located in Reston, Virginia. FBV is a nonprofit, high-quality, pre-professional dance company dedicated to inspiring excellence and infusing passion in dancers and audience members. Festival Ballet Virginia provides the important performing experience necessary to complete our dancers’ education.
Membership in Festival Ballet Virginia is determined by audition each spring. Dancers range in age from ten years old to adults. In addition to their class commitment, dancers in Festival Ballet Virginia participate in performance workshops where they rehearse, work on choreography, and master techniques necessary for performing.
As a nonprofit organization, Festival Ballet Virginia relies on annual membership dues, ticket sales, donations, and corporate sponsorships to produce existing programs and expand offerings for the future. Through the generous support of sponsors, we are able to secure performance essentials such as costumes, props, sets, and theater rental fees. Support from sponsors will also enable FBV to initiate local educational outreach programs essential to fulfilling our mission and vision. Every donation, no matter the level, directly benefits our dancers and enhances the quality of our productions.
“I have to tell you that the Nutcracker performance tonight was one of the best I’ve seen in any venue. The humor, the quality, everything was so amazing! This is not just coming from a teacher, this is coming from someone who has seen tons of Nutcracker performances. I can’t tell you enough how this made my first night of winter break special. When I saw [the dancers] come out, I wanted to stand up and shout. Really.”
