JAZZ, MODERN,TAP AND CONTEMPORARY DANCE

Jazz, Modern and Contemporary dance are important offerings at the GWDC.  A solid foundation in ballet augmented with high level training in these other Dance forms makes a versatile and well-rounded dancer.  The GWDC is committed to ensuring that all dance techniques are taught with a sensitivity to age appropriateness. Dancers may begin training in Jazz, Modern and Contemporary dance at age 8.  Tap is taught in all PreBallet and Ballet 1 classes to help develop the young dancer’s rhythm and timing.  A basic introduction to jazz is taught at the end of all of our Ballet 2 classes.  Acknowledging that ballet is the foundation for all other dance forms, Lower and Upper Division dancers are highly encouraged to be concurrently enrolled in a ballet class in when enrolled in jazz, modern, contemporary classes.  Dancers in the Pre-professional Division are required to be concurrently enrolled in ballet.
