DAVID ARCE

David Arce former dancer with San Francisco Ballet (CA) for 13 seasons, Artistic Director of Juline Regional Youth Ballet (CA) for 10 seasons, Assistant Artistic Director of Mid-Columbia Ballet (WA) for 2 seasons, and recently the Trainee Program Director at Ballet Idaho. Born in San Diego, California, he began his ballet training at Ballet Yuma (AZ) with Jon Cristofori and Kathleen Sinclair. His list of accomplishments with the San Francisco Ballet include principal and soloist roles in Balanchine, Robbins, Forsythe, MacMillan, Martins, Morris, de Mille, Petit, Ratmansky, Caniparoli, Tomasson, Kudelka, Welch, Wheeldon, Adam, Possokhov, York, and Lubovich. Additionally, he has performed throughout the world with San Francisco Ballet and independently at many galas, festivals, and international ballet competitions in Asia, and Europe. Mr. Arce has taught master classes, coached, and choreographed domestically and abroad including Japan, China, Malaysia, Arizona, Idaho, Mississippi, Washington Ballet in D.C., Utah, New York, throughout California, and numerous RDA/P and Ballet Alliance festivals. Mr. Arce was a staff writer for Dance Studio Life, contributing Ballet Technique Tips monthly to the magazine for 5 years.
AMANDA CLAUSS

Amanda Clauss has over 15 years of teaching experience, working with students of all ages and levels — from young beginners to pre-professional dancers and adults. Amanda’s pre-professional training began at the Ballet Academy of Texas under the direction of Lisa Slagle. Amanda attended summer intensive programs such as Ballet Austin, American Ballet Theater New York, Joffery and received scholarships to attend the State Street Ballet and Milwaukee Ballet. Upon graduating Amanda was accepted to University of Arizona where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and studied with teachers James Clouser, Melissa Lowe, Amy Ernst and Sam Watson. She performed in several ballet and jazz pieces, Suite Dimitre, Sleep Out, Con Spirto and Sabor a Mi. During this time Amanda discovered the opportunities travel can bring when she took two summers to study ballet abroad in Italy with Philip Beamish, Evelyn Heart and Nina Janik. As a performer, Amanda danced with Gin Dance Company, Contemporary Ballet Dallas, Dallas Neo-Classical Ballet, Gaudium Dance Movement, and Architexture Dance Company. Appearing in neo-classical and contemporary works most notably Le Train Bleu in conjunction with the Dallas Museum of Art, Cupid & Psyche, and Boogie Woogie Christmas Carol. After completing her degree Amanda began her teaching career in Southern California and has enjoyed the opportunity to work alongside influential teachers, develop ballet programs from the ground up in California and Texas, and see many students flourish in their love of dance. Amanda is excited to teach at Greater Washington Dance Center because of the high level of care that is given to each student’s growth and progress as a dancer and a person. Whether teaching across the US or as she most recently did in Brussels, Belgium her students have proven their technique and artistry in class, on stage, in competitions and through class examinations.
ANABEL DUPREY

Anabel DuPrey is a senior at South Lakes High School and has been dancing for 14 years. She is currently a student in the Professional Division of the Greater Washington Dance Center is a graduate of GWDC’s two year pedagogy program. Since graduating, Anabel has enjoyed assisting and teaching in all levels of classes. Anabel is a Principal Artist with Festival Ballet Virginia and also performs as a Student Guest Artist with Motion X Dance Company. For the last three years, she has been accepted via audition into the prestigious Kennedy Center Masterclass Series. Her training also includes two summers at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Summer Intensive and one summer with Complexions Contemporary Ballet, where she has continued to develop her technique and versatility as a performer.
Bronwyn Dean

STACY GEORGE

As family lore goes, Stacy George danced before she could walk and hasn’t stopped moving since! She immersed herself in all things dance and through an injury found herself on a personal journey of health and healing. Through this experience, Stacy grew a passion for helping all people achieve a sense of wellness and wholeness in themselves and strives to assist as many people as she can live a life without pain by learning how to use their own unique body. Stacy has a BS in Exercise Science and an MS in Health Promotion. She is a certified Pilates Instructor with Balanced Body and a Certified Exercise Physiologist with the American College of Sports Medicine. To this, Stacy adds nearly 20 years of experience working in different capacities such as Fitness Instructor, Pilates Trainer & Instructor, Personal Trainer, Fitness Instructor Trainer, Exercise Specialist in a Physical Therapy office and an Alzheimer’s research study, and as a Fitness Conference Presenter. Stacy is excited to bring her expertise and passion to GWDC with the hope of reaching and enriching even more lives.
Mychal Keels

JULIANNE NICKLES

Julianne Nickles began dancing at the age of 15, training primarily in ballet through beginning adult programs. A year later she found GWDC and quickly began to consider it her home. She was a student of the Professional Division from 2018-2020, and performed as part of Festival Ballet’s The Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty’s Dream. In 2020 she began her studies at the College of William and Mary, pursuing a degree in Neuroscience. In 2021 she began her role as administrative assistant for the studio, and worked primarily remotely throughout the remainder of her college career. Post-graduation, she is continuing her administrative assistant role as she prepares to apply to medical school with dreams of being a child psychiatrist. She has been teaching dance with GWDC since 2017, and loves her GWDC family dearly.
